Michel Keaton and Winona Ryder Return in Highly Anticipated ‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel

Fans of the cult classic film “Beetlejuice” were thrilled to see the first photos of the upcoming sequel, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which features the return of iconic actors Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder. Warner Bros recently released two images from the film, giving audiences a glimpse of the beloved characters and the new additions to the cast.

In the photos, Michael Keaton is seen reprising his role as the mischievous spirit Beetlejuice, sporting his signature black-and-white suit and frizzy hair. The images evoke a sense of nostalgia for fans of the original film, as Keaton looks just like his ghostly self from the 1988 classic.

Joining Keaton in the sequel are fellow returning cast members Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder, as well as newcomers Justin Theroux and Jenna Ortega. The four actors are pictured together in stylish black attire, hinting at the eerie and whimsical tone of the film.

Ryder will be returning to her role as Lydia Deetz, while O’Hara will once again play her mother Delia Deetz. Ortega, known for her work in haunted roles, will portray Lydia’s daughter Astrid, adding a new dynamic to the Deetz family. Theroux’s character, Rory, remains shrouded in mystery, with few details about his role released so far.

In addition to the returning and new cast members, the film will also feature Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe in undisclosed roles. Dafoe revealed in an interview that he will be playing a police officer and former B-movie action star in the afterlife, adding to the intrigue surrounding the film.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024, just in time for the Halloween season. The sequel will follow the Deetz family after a death leads to the return of Beetlejuice, continuing the supernatural and comedic elements that made the original film a fan favorite.

Production for the film began in 2023 after years of speculation and a previously failed attempt at a sequel titled “Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian.” Director Tim Burton, who helmed the original film, expressed doubts about the sequel’s fruition in the past, making the upcoming release even more anticipated for fans of the franchise.

With the return of beloved characters and the addition of new talent, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” promises to deliver a mix of nostalgia and fresh storytelling for audiences eager to revisit the whimsical world of Beetlejuice and the Deetz family.
